I am breaking away from Marshall Lodge trivia this month to bring you an article published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences this week (October 28) that I found interesting. Did our first known Articifer of brass and other metals work here?
MINES DATES BACK TO KING SOLOMON'S TIME
King Solomon's mines held a treasure of gold and diamonds. Archaeologist say that the real mines may have supplied the ancient king with copper. Researches found a mine in southern Jordon which dates back to the time of King Solomon at around 10th century B.C. The site, Khirbat en-Nahas has been a focus of study since 2006. But lately, the researches decided to dig deeper, discovering materials that date back to this period.
The researches previous finding dated metal working in this area to around 7 B.C., long after the King Solomon rule. But the recent finds now show that metal workings went on several centuries before that, dating back to the King Solomon rule.
My thanks go out to Brother Wayne Dawson for providing me with information to start this Marshall Lodge Trivia page. Without his willingness to share his hard work, I could not provide this page.
